Gathering Relief Funds for Typhoon Ondoy Victims

I'm trying to gather a small amount for relief to the victims of Typhoon Ondoy. I'll be forwarding this to the people in Manila. It's a small amount but I'm sure it will make a difference, plus I'm not anyone popular who can aim for a bigger amount. $300 is already a big amount/ goal for me to try and gather.

And for those who are afraid I'm scamming people and taking advantage of the situation, don't worry- I'll post up proof that I did indeed forward the money to Manila to help the victims, that's when I'm through collecting and when I've actually forwarded the amount. Plus, this is a private account, with a link to my Haven- where I blog about my personals, with photos of my friends, family, and myself. I wouldn't want to put my face (my family's reputation and the reputation of a Filipino) on the line if this wasn't an authentic "gathering of relief funds for the typhoon Ondoy". $300 is just a little amount for me to risk my name on. :)

So please, even just $1 can make a difference. Even $0.50 I'll be grateful, and that's no joke. Think about the small amounts adding up, that will certainly make a big impact! Your little contribution with definitely go a long way for our brothers and sisters in need.

trying to make a difference,

Typhoon Ondoy

We're planning to pack up donations tomorrow and have it dropped off on one of the drop off sites here at Cebu. It's nice to see that at times like these, a lot of Filipinos help out. Nice to see most people still have their hearts. My sincere prayers go out to the typhoon victims.

I'm looking into volunteering this Thursday or Friday. I hope I'll be allowed to. But for sure we'll be donating, no excuse not to!

Check out this post Elwin showed me:

From Facebook

I hope the one who made the commet won't mind me placing up that print screen. :p If you do mind, if the owner is reading, let me know if you want me to take it down.

Also, there are those taking advantage of the situation and using this tragedy to gain more profit by increasing the prices of their goods even after price freeze was declared. It's so cruel, taking more from those who have lost a whole lot already. Sick right?

Let's pray for those in Manila, those affected. Also, let's help pray they can withstand the upcoming typhoon this Thursday. It is reported to be even worse, and that what happened last Saturday was just a "taste" of what is to come.

There's also this girl on Facebook, a Filipino, who said that "buti n lng am hir in dubai!maybe so many sinners bak der!so yeah deserving wat hapend!" (Good thing I'm here in Dubai! Maybe there are so many sinners back there [Philippines]! So yeah, they deserved what happened) Talk about ill-wishing. Repugnant much? Her name is Jacque Bermejo. Elwin told me about this person earlier. I found a blog about her too! Amidst everyone posting links to help out, instructions and numbers as to where to donate, she posts up this comment. Elwin said everyone reacted instantly and that they made a Facebook account against her. How can she say something like that? What's even more disgusting is- she is Filipino! More hate comments from two other people, I heard is worse than that of Jacque's. I didn't bother reading it. :P

Read a little more about Jacque and found posts that did defend her. What do you guys think? Amazing though how in less than 24-hours she's become an instant celebrity with a whole lot of haters already! And I also came across this Youtube account that kind off pissed me off.

A lot of blogs up out there for haters, for help, and for news. We are blessed with the Internet, information is disseminated so quickly. And it's now easier to ask for help.

For the victims, check out this online spreadsheet.

For Cebuanos who wants to extend their help:

Don't Kiss and Tell

Today started with me reading the newspaper. Poor Ondoy victims, I can't imagine not helping. Send in donations fellow Cebuaonos! :D There are a lot willing to help, a lot of drop off points for donations. It's really heart-warming yeah?

So IT126's suckish exam. Boo! I was able to answer part two of the exam. The first part, I only managed to write down the function header. 1 hour wasn't enough for that mind-breaking exam!

I spoke with Oliver today, I was like "Ollie, if ever, are you going for a third take on IT126? Cause I'm confused if I should just stop and go fly to the US or stay and continue..." he answered "This is my third take, next semester will be my fourth and yes, I think I'll be taking the subject the fourth time." (Okay so we spoke in dialect :p). Made me think a lot, it is only my second take, why am I so giving up easily? Others are on their fourth and fifth already but they're still fighting. I'd want to keep going, that's if my parents agree to me paying the school fees. I'll pray about that and propose to my parents the idea on Friday maybe? It's such a shame, I've been given the chance to retake it and it seems I still won't make it. I'm embarrassed, most especially to my parents.

Lunch with Elwin and a movie "There's Something About Mary". Romantic-comedy flick that stars Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller, 1998. It was a good one.

I missed group study at the library 3:30pm today, and to think I was the one who suggested it. Boo! I ran out of time, I wanted to catch up with dad at home.

We bought chicken at Talamban, silvanas at Tojong St. as requested by Lola, Coffee Dream coffees (using coupons), and McD take outs as requested by my sister Holly.
Dad wasn't in a very good mood since I didn't bring the car home in time, he used the Pajero instead.

Elwin had snacks with me and my sister on the upstairs' table. And not long after that we had dinner with the family. I love it when Elwin eats with my family. :)

We watched the news at the living room (during and) after dinner. Typhoon Ondoy really did a lot of damage! Let's pray that all will be well.

* finally posted up something for the Flickr group I just joined in - What I Wore Today

Day started out with:
* dad asking me to take photos of this necklace that my Uncle Reuel wants to buy, uploaded it on my Facebook account
* prepared to go out
* went to church at Mabolo, San Carlos Seminary - if I'm not mistaken

We then had lunch at SM. Strolled around and went to Ayala after. Did groceries and I bought an eyeliner! L'Oreal, 395php. Holly went with her friends and we headed home.

Tomorrow we're having an exam on 2-3 Tree in our IT126 class. It's so clear to me that I won't make it, but I'm still hoping for a miracle to save me. Lord, help me.

Elwin also edited a photo of me, which he took from yesterday's date. :)

I love them hats :)

I should be off to bed in a bit, I'd still need to study a bit for tomorrow. Ever get that feeling that you're trying on something that you know just won't work, but you try anyways? Like the saying goes "In 20 years you'll regret more the things you haven't done over the things you did do." Try your best, so you won't regret. :)

trying and hoping,

Blogger Format

There's something wrong with Blogspot. How come every time I set the format of my blog- like captions under the photos in small font, and the font sizes of the other parts of the blog, it doesn't work?! After I publish it, the format changes. Ugh. Frustrating. This is one reason why I'd like to move to Tumblr. T.T

annoyed with the formatting problem,
